The solar system is barely Beginning to settle down after the fall of the Republic which reigned over all that fell under the umbrella of worlds and space stations once colonised or captured by the First republic of Earth. For the first time in many centuries, the entire Earth empire was governed by a single man. A king. But the secrets that lie within this man could mean the end of both the fledging monarchy and the entire Earth empire.
  
Hey guys, this is my first attempt at sci-fi i know its not all perfectly polished but just let me know what you think of this Prologue of sorts.

The novel started as a short story that was submitted to a writing contest (didn't win). It is very loosely based upon the Babylon 5 Universe (telepaths, shadows, plethora of different races, etc.). I still continued to think about the story and how it ended without a final resolution (though the story did have an ending, it left a lot of questions about the protagonist). Thanks to the obsession and compulsion I have with writing (it's a blessing and a curse) I decided to continue the story to final resolution. This is it. A race called the Chitoxan came from an unknown area of space and declared war on the races making up the Earth-Alliance. More technically advanced than the races they encounter, the overwhelming power of the shadow vessels results in most battles ending in complete defeat for the Earth-Alliance. Only by massing fire on an individual shadow vessel or, in extremely desperate situations, committing suicide with a ship's reactor overload, can a shadow vessel be defeated. Earth and Earth-alliance colonies are slowly being conquered and occupied by Chitoxa. The humans on these occupied colonies are enslaved and forced to serve the Chitoxan's every need. A young man volunteers for the Space Marines during the Chitoxan war. Upon induction, he discovers that he is 'blessed' with unique abilities. However, these abilities cause his life to be changed drastically and terribly. He is taken away and forced into a never-ending nightmare. After a quick and violent encounter between Earth and Chitoxa, another Earth fleet is beaten and is almost wiped out. The surviving ship gets a lucky shot at an attacking shadow vessel, slicing off one of its appendages. The pain and shock of the loss does something to the human controller of the battle crab....

It is the 33rd century, war still rages endlessly, and amongst the stars humanity remains fractured. The Galactic Empire, forged on the carcass of the old Republic, persists with its conquest for complete and unparalleled domination over the vast reaches of the cosmos, and to purge that which they see unfit as they spread their perversion of what the Republic once stood for. While independent rebel forces with their minuscule manpower each push back against The Emperor's cruel regime with all their might, they suffer tremendous casualties and are executed with exceptional cruelty. This new spark of a Galactic Civil War has already lit a fire too big to quell now, and will only get stronger. The Empire already has torn apart countless star systems, the inhabitants either joining the untold billions of the Empire, or being crushed under their heel. To be a man in such times is to live in fear, fear of the unchanging cruelty from the Emperor's iron fist, fear of stepping out of line. There is little hope in the midst of the scent of death and the cruel laughter of Imperial Officers, yet many hold on. Meanwhile in a distant and quiet sector of the galaxy, a planet known as Sylvaris resides, unscorched by blaster fire. Soon however, that will change, as a surviving Jedi has been located by Imperial spies on a planet called Ayidia, living in a nation referred to its citizens as "Forshaan". A young child known as Fletcher Carmine happily lives with his parents and his sister here in a shack in the woods, unaware of how drastically this day will change the trajectory of his life, and the galaxy as a whole. Act 1 is very heavily influenced by The Force Unleashed 1 Act 2 is still in development (Descriptions will be updated as more is written, there will also be a lot of revisions bc I'm always changing shit so my apologies for that)

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. A great calm has arrived. For 300 years, the JEDI KNIGHTS have retaken their rightful place as guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. The recent passing of Jedi Master ORI SKYWALKER has sent the entire NEW REPUBLIC into mourning. Master ERROL CORLAX has been selected to succeed her, and assume the mantle of Skywalker. But Errol is not as beloved as his predecessor. And the enemies of the Jedi are beginning to stir. As Errol's coronation nears, the Jedi prepare for conflict.... [Some background: I thought about how I would continue Star Wars after the sequels if I was in charge of things, and had so much fun coming up with a plot I had to write it down. Written in (probably totally wrong) script format to make the fantasy complete. And no, the episode number is not a typo. In the style of the OT, the story begins at Episode XI, and will then jump back to its prequel, X. :P]

I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. Adlet Blacksteel is the newest edition to the E.H.P.D., his skills and experience as a hostage extractor makes him an invaluable edition. Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire. While prejudice against E.H.s reaches it's peak because of a horrific tragedy, the Soldiers of the New World waste no time to expand their reach and rally for their cause of taking over the city. Adlet goes to the edge of sacrificing everything and back again. On the way, betrayal awaits at every corner.
