The story takes place in a modern-ish setting, in the year 2034. People with extraordinary abilities live amongst humans; however, the daily air is of normalcy, and their existence is a collective secret for the general population. This is a secret that is kept under a silent rule of fear, due to the efforts of the titanic WoodGate corporation to silence those who either belong to, or know of metahumans -nicknamed "imperfects" by the leaders of the pharmaceutical conglomerate.

In the shadows of civil routine and everyday life, survivors of the company's unyielding hand in the attempt to control or kill metahumans, rise to fight their common foe as most of the world is ignorant to the crimes committed, such as the Albrecht family: Edwin, Jules, and Nate; Larx Van de Graaff, a man still recovering from tragedies of the past that came as a consequence of power; Alison Bogman, a rookie agent that experiences first-hand, and for the first time, the back workings that make WoodGate the powerhouse it has become.

With a looming threat that hovers over the skies of the world, and a slow warning that tenses the air. Between the search for truth for some, and vengance for others, paths intertwine to discover the dangers that have appeared with mythical powers that are akin to gifts and curses alike, and the reason that must unite them all against a colossal threat.
