The Beta Reading Club holds monthly contests consisting of a singular prompt decided upon by The Writers. The prompt can vary from using a character trait, scene, setting, etc. It can be very vague or very restricting. You can also find the contests on Instagram, @the_beta_reading_club
Our goal in these contest is for writers to have FUN and to also help them to hone their crafts. Winners of the contests will have their work published and credited on our "Contest Winners" book.

This book is comprised of all of the short stories that I've written in recent years. SmackDown: Back to Our Roots
Our previous two SmackDowns were both massive successes, and it's high time for another. You might remember the last one was heavy on the "game" elements, maybe even too heavy. This time we're going back to the basics and keeping it simple. It's just a motherfuckin' sci-fi SmackDown: a heated writing contest where contestants are given text-, music- and visual-based prompts, and then they need to write a short story around that, following which they're judged for their efforts and either move on to the next round or they get eliminated from the competition. But there's gotta be some kind of twist, right? For this one we're waxing nostalgic, we're looking back into our past. We're going back to our roots.Kumpleto
