December Parker has just moved from London, England to Ocala, Florida. Starting fresh in a whole new city and high school. She's starting as a freshman at St. Francis Prep Academy for the Academically Gifted, and she has a lot to learn about the people and the new high school drama that she's never experienced before at home or in this new environment. Dem has always been the antisocial, been stereo-typically referred to as 'emo', and made a social outcast because of her rare complete central heterochromia. It's always been hard for her at home too ever since her dad left her mom, two older brothers, and one younger sister when she was 6 years old. Ever since then things have never been the same. The sudden move across the Atlantic away from everything she's ever known and the place she grew up isn't helping at all. However, when December gets to her new school she realizes that in order to be left at peace and not go back to her darker days in London she has to be strong. This means she cannot let anyone in, no matter what; she has to build walls strong enough not to crumble under anyone's kindness, no matter how sincere. Little does she know that this is far from the truth when a group of people she'd never thought she'd meet in a place like this tear her wall down, brick by brick.
