Because he can only remember Rick coming back into their life when he was 4, even though Rick told him he was there when Morty was born. After Morty finds out that Beths memories don't make sense either, a fight occurs between Rick and Morty. When Rick can't keep his emotions under control anymore, he makes a big mistake.
