Bright Eyes

She turned just as he launched himself at her. All of the air rushed out of her lungs as he hit her. The impact was jarring to say the least. She hit the ground with a thud and tried to roll out of his grasp, though she knew it was futile. His unnatural eyes shined in the evening light as he gave her a merciless smile. He grabbed her waist and started to pick her up just as she started breathing normally again. She knew that this might be her only chance so she screamed, “Help!” at the top of her lungs and started flailing her limbs. She felt her foot connect with his nose, the only reasoning behind the assumption was the sickening crack as he dropped her. He sneered and punched her in the jaw. The last thing she remembered before the world turned black was looking into his bright, pink eyes.

Penny lives in a world controlled by a government experiment called the Gifted. Gifted humans are faster, stronger, have better eyesight, hearing, and smell than the average human. As the population continues to drop due to the Gifted's extreme hunting of humans, Penny and many others are forced into hiding. When Penny herself is found and captured by Ivan, a pink eyed Gifted, she is taken to a remote mountain laboratory. The things she learns there she could have never seen coming.
