Seaglass couldn't believe what had just happened.
everything in her life was perfect, and completely normal. up until today.
she had been sculpting when her parents got in another fight, which upset her.
she clutched her sculpture in her talons and swam out to stop them, only to have a bowl thrown at her through the water by her father; Manta.
Seaglass curled up in a corner, clutching her sculture tighter 'stop..make them stop..' she had thought in terror.
and that's when everything changed.
she watched the sculpture fly out of her talons, slamming against her father's skull with a heavy crack that echoed through the water.
she watched with wide teal eyes as he crumpled to the ground, blood floating from his nose through the azure waters around them.
her mother looked at her in shock, flashing 'room, now.' with narrowed eyes as she clutched her husbands body.
ever since then, Seaglass has never been the same.

"Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. "Do you really want to test me Dante?" He asks raising a single eyebrow. For a minute the men stop their movements. I see their hesitation for fear... Fear of what? I take the moment to stick Cassandra behind a nearby tree. She crouches down while I pull my sword out from its place. "How do you know my name?" The scoundrel raises his sword challenging towards the boy before taking a final step towards him. Then the unexpected happens. The young boy chuckles so darkly. It sounded almost... demonic. All the men instinctively raise their swords. "Oh Dante, I didn't know your name... but you know someone dear to me." "Spit it out boy!" The once grinning man is now looking around frantically. I continue my eyes scanning the small boy. He looks directly me and gives me a small nod before saying one word that caused all hell to breaks loose. "Artemis." Artemis is not an ordinary girl. She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. I imagine him as he is now, a cold echo of himself-a captive god, shackled to the ground he once knew well. For him, and for me, time crawls in the same sluggish circle.
