It is a lore of bygone times, though one not commonly told.
The clangour of swords, clash of chains, cries of war, I'm sure you've known before.
A venomous fire ravages the land, devouring all in its wake,
Kingdoms, emperors, warriors and children; fuelled by a scathing hate.
But hate can be thawed and doused with ease; no the fire I speak of rivals that of hell, to end is all it knows
If you must learn this story I speak of, lift your heads to the sky;
The winds that blow shall whisper songs of a time long gone by.
Rampant kings with hearts of ice, a wayward prince in supposed control of the dice,
A presumptuous soldier and players for nought, with devilry on their minds.
And the final piece of chess as present in every story, fated warriors destined to make the ultimate ply as they go in glory.
