[Sequel to 'Aquila'] Following the routing of the Chaos Marine Hepharion and his warband on the planet of Pelamon, Caius and the Ultramarines of the 20th Tactical Squad make a hasty dash for the outpost world of Alamarri VIII in an attempt to save their brothers of the Imperial Fist who have been fortifying the world under mysterious orders from the Adeptus Administratum and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Aided by Nuadan and his dwindling squad of Asuryani, Caius sets out to try and stop Hepharion and his warband before they claim another world while protecting the Titan heart salvaged from Polemeca while waiting for an Adeptus Mechanicus vessel to take it to Mars. Arriving on Alamarri, they meet Captain Finn Varis of the Imperial Fists and the Forward Engineering Battalion who reveal that the situation might be far more complicated than they would ever imagine as a series of ancient Eldar webway gates are discovered beneath the fortress.
