[Complete || 7x featured] Some summers are meant to burn. April O'Brien is a firefly-bright, restless, and done living under anyone else's rules. Fresh out of high school, she knows college isn't part of her story, no matter how hard her father pushes. So when a summer getaway to Hawaii offers her the freedom to breathe, she takes it, determined to leave expectations behind and soak up every bit of sunlight. But paradise comes with a twist. Javier-the boy who once had her heart and shattered it-is here too, and he's no longer just a memory. He's older. Sharper. Still heartbreakingly familiar. What was supposed to be a peaceful escape quickly spirals into late-night tension, unfinished conversations, and a pull April swore she'd outgrown. She's built walls since Javier. She's learned how to pretend she doesn't care. But under the stars and crashing waves, pretending starts to feel impossible. Just when it seems like they might find their way back to each other, April discovers Javier hasn't come back empty-handed-he's carrying secrets that could upend everything. And as truth and betrayal collide, she has to decide whether this summer will be the start of something real... or the final goodbye she never got. When Willow Mayfair's life falls apart, her mother brings her to Briar Cove, the coastal town where she grew up. Living with Rebecca's childhood friend, a new world filled with love, excitement, and friendship opens up for both of them. This story is for everybody who also dreams of a fairy tale and won't care if the "knights" were a little dirty. "Grab a bunch of broken misfits, chuck them in a tribe, add some glitter and loads of weird-ass garbage, voila, you've got yourself a fairy tale... kinda... just... you know... minus the fairies..." Paisley Davenport This story is my happy place; I do not plan on ever finishing it. It will go on and on like a soapie. I might break it up into volumes later. This book is ideal for forgetting the world and becoming best friends with the characters. Please Note:- I'm currently rewriting this story to edit and enhance parts. I'm also breaking up long chapters. Though the reading flow will not be broken, the chapter numbers will become out of sync at the border between old and new. ♫ Genre: Slice of Life/Romance/Humour This is a slow-burn journey through love and life, filled with an array of beloved characters, their sad moments, happy moments and a multitude of bat-sh#t crazy moments. P.S.: This is not a fairy tale... ♫ This is a work of fiction. Any names or characters, businesses or places, events or incidents are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. TW: Please be advised that this story contains references to violence (sexual and other), drugs, anxiety, mental health issues, abuse and other possibly upsetting themes. Being the new girl, officially sucks. Being the new Goth girl, wholeheartedly sucks. Being the new Goth girl, with horrific baggage, truly sucks. At my old school, I was thought of as 'cool and quirky'. Here, I'm just the weird new girl - the weird new girl whose parents are divorcing. I get stared at. Whispered about. Socially ostracised. I just know that my entire school life is now going to be an endless bout of loneliness and humiliation. Only, it would seem that Chas Summers doesn't think so. He has just stuffed a piece of paper in the back pocket of my jeans with one of his cocky and welcoming smiles. Now this boy, really is cool and quirky. A bit of a rebel, but he's definitely no rebel without a cause. That cocky smile of his, tells me that this could be the coming together of two quirky kindred spirits. That smile, tells me that I could have found my first friend here. Maybe being the new girl, isn't going to be so bad after all? Maybe being the new girl, will have its advantages? Maybe being me, is actually okay? I'm Mindy Diaz. The new Goth girl. Quirky and proud. The John Hughes Club Published by K B Mallion Copyright © 2020 K B Mallion
