The Dark Forest overpowered StarClan in the middle of the Great Journey and when the Clans arrived at the new territory, the Dark Forest was waiting and destroyed the Clans, wearing masks. Most of the cats scattered alive, but they then wore masks on their faces to avoid being known that they were Clan cats. Then this basically becomes Hunger Games- The Dark Forest tries to rip off the living cats' masks to "kill" them - afterwards, the cat whose mask got ripped off will basically become hypnotized by the Dark Forest cat and will basically work for them, basically brain dead cats. It's every cat for themselves, who'll live, who'll die, and who'll rise to maybe defeat the Dark Forest? We'll see...

Keenkit always figured he and his littermates were normal kits who would all become apprentices and be able to train together. But when a strange cat takes his sister out of StreamClan on the day of their apprentice ceremony, he quickly realizes such hope has become impossible. Sunpaw just wants to prove to his clan, BreezeClan that he can become a great warrior. But it isn't as easy as it sounds. Even though his rival apprentice Slowpaw is much younger than him, he is always beaten in battle training and he can never catch nearly as much prey. His mentor doesn't make it any better either. Pounceheart is always treating him like some helpless kit and he worries he'll never be able to complete his warrior assessment. Echokit and her friends live in a very large Clan called PondClan where a strange sickness has been infecting many of the cats. The sickness is not very deadly, but it can kill cats slowly overtime.
