Wings of Yesterday
In the city of Daymoor, it wasn't unusual to see people with wings flying above the streets. They were called Wings, a rare minority born with unique genetics that gave them birdlike abilities. For hundreds of years, those with feathers and those without lived in an uneasy harmony. Things weren't always fair, but for the most part, they coexisted in peace. In the countryside, however, it was a bit rarer to encounter them. So when eight-year-old Azure, a country boy, saw Sandra, a Wing, gliding through the sky for the first time, he couldn't take his admiring eyes off her. Thirteen-year-old Ginna's only connection to her long-dead mother is the dogwood in her backyard. The tree radiates a warm sort of buzz which might possibly be magic. Or is it a trick of her imagination? That's the agonizing question that earned her the label, "weirdo who talks to trees." And it's the reason Ginna is struggling with her plan to make one real friend. After an embarrassing attempt ends with Ginna kicking a soccer ball at a classmate's face, she retreats to the comfort of her tree-shaped companion to ask for help-and something strange happens. Ginna goes from mostly ignored to ridiculously popular overnight, and she's having conversations with someone or some thing inside her head. The source, an opinionated tree spirit named Dogwood, claims she accidentally stepped into Ginna's body. But now that the spirit has access to Ginna's thoughts and memories, she's in no hurry to go back where she belongs. Until Ginna figures out that Dogwood is hiding information about her mom. Now it's Ginna who doesn't want to let go. She has so many questions-but there's no time to wait for the stubborn spirit to answer. Ginna's body is becoming dangerously depleted and can no longer sustain Dogwood's energy. She'll have to find the courage to stand on her own before possession burnout destroys them both.Complete

Magic doesn't exist in the real world nor does it exist anyplace else, all except for one's mind. The mind is complex, yet it is capable of a lot of things; even the deception that magic exists in such a world. Say that magic did exist, in all of its glory, but would there be only one place where it exists? Or would it be found all over the place? Unless if magic is only found when someone imagines it to be. After all, it can just be a figment of their imagination. But maybe magic does exist, in the places that you'd least expect it.Complete

"I just realised something." I say, breaking the long silence from the journey. "I'm not gonna be too sad if we don't end up finding her." I speak looking straight ahead as I drive down the road, a million thoughts running through my head. I continue, "Maybe cause to travel is better than to arrive. It's actually what has happened along the way that counts; the tears, the falls and the friendship. It's about the journey and not the destination. And I know she'd think the same. So, I guess, we just gotta trust that the future is gonna work itself out like it's supposed to." I finish off and the other two don't say anything. I glance towards them to see them watch me with apprehension. We all fall silent once again as the trees pass by us, unable to stop thinking about that one silly, reckless knobhead. Friendships are nice that way, just a bit complicated

COMPLETED STORY :) Time is a funny thing. Anything can happen in an instant. There are more than 7 billion people on earth, all with their own lives, their own stories. While you may be going through the worst day of your life, someone may be having the best day of their life, and we wouldn't ever know it. People die, and more are born. We'll never know who they are, but their stories deserve to be told, even if only for a moment. Because sometimes, a minute can feel like a lifetime. Time is a funny thing.
