Mika Stevens, a seventeen year old, small town girl from Oklahoma has run into trouble in every turn of her life. Her mother died from cancer when Mika was just a baby, and since then, her father has become an alcoholic and abuses her. To make matters worse, Mika is sent hate by everyone in her school- she's the girl who is quiet, shy, and awkward. She's also very smart, which just makes it worse. She has no friends, since no one wants to be associated with the girl that tried to kill herself more than five times, but couldn't succeed. Then one day, a storm rolls around, becoming one of the most damaging tornadoes in all of Oklahoma's history. The death count was 32- though that number was wrong, even after months of picking up the pieces left of Fairfax. The only person to know why it was wrong was Mika, and she wasn't telling anyone soon. "Dry lightning cracks across the skies, those storm clouds gather in her eyes. Her daddy was a mean old mister, Mama was an angel in the ground. The weather man called for a twister, she prayed blow it down. There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma, to wash the sins out of that house. There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma, to rip the nails out of the past."All Rights Reserved
