He remembers her. Of course he remembers her.
She strolled into Hogwarts for their sixth year, turned a few heads, probably ruined a few GPAs, and then-poof-disappeared before the year was even over. Mysterious. Alluring. The kind of person who leaves an existential crisis in their wake.
Not that he ever spoke to her. Not when his brain would have short-circuited, and he'd have ended up babbling about goblin rebellions or, Merlin forbid, his mother's knitting habits.
Years later, Bill Weasley finally heads off to Egypt to be a curse breaker, ready to take on ancient magic, deadly traps, and possibly a sunburn bad enough to be classified as a Dark curse.
And who does he run into?
Her.
Because, clearly, fate has it out for him.
And just to make things even worse? She's his mentor.
So now, instead of impressing her with his undeniable charm and rugged, sand-blasted good looks, he gets to stand there and nod while she teaches him things.
Maybe this time, he can actually manage to form a coherent sentence. Preferably one that doesn't involve goblins. Or knitting.
