Meanwhile, equally inquisitive, her mother, Alice, is quick to catch her daughter's vibe for interfering. She also suspects that the investigation is really a distraction for Tess, who is fighting to accept that her beloved neighborhood is changing and worse, so is her family now that her older brother is a 'too cool for you high-schooler'. Regardless, the wheels are in motion. The truth may be shocking and danger is certain.
