Fifteen year-old, miss-fit Archy used to have someone who understood him, which in the harsh Kingdom of Brigonia was very rare indeed. But one day, she goes missing... After a strange encounter with a goblin, he finds himself on the run from a legion of warriors who want to kill him and a vague idea of where his sister might be... After finding out he has the rare ability to use magic, he tries to discover who he truly is and why he is so powerful. Not knowing who to trust, he and his two new friends must embark on a perilous quest to reach the Great Kingdom.

The quest is to find a powerful gem in the Deep Forest, and then to use what powers it bestowed on them to delve into the Mountain Barrier. There, they will have to find the Light to dispel the growing Darkness within. Though this qest is honorable and righteous, the dangers that await them are exponentially worse than they could ever imagine. Whether they can save the world depends on whether they can survive themselves. Mature rating for blood, gore and depictions of violence. TW: mentions of drunkards and beer, mention of physical abuses, a description of trypophobia, claustrophobia, and other phobias, and descriptions of nasty cryptids. There is no depictions or allusions of sex, no f-bombs, or drug abuse. This story was started when I was in seventh grade. I finished the original when I was a senior in high school. Displeased with the finished product, I began to rewrite it here, starting June 2015, then again in 2020. I am quite satisfied with the result, and am sure this will be the final edition. This isn't the first book of the series, but there's no spoilers for 'The World is Larger than it Seems', so you can start on this one. The story is far from finished, however, and I hope to eventually finish the series.

Once my mum held unrivaled fame and power as a guild member, commanding respect across the world. Then, unexpectedly, my parents left London for the tranquil beauty of the Lake District. Now, on the cusp of my 13th birthday, we are returning to London, to the heart of my parents' former guild. This means I will attend the prestigious school they once graced. But beyond this, I am on the brink of a pivotal event - a Reveal Day. At 13, we undergo a ceremony where our elemental magic is unveiled, determining our destiny, education, and path in life. Yet, life in the countryside is no idyllic retreat. It harbors peril, with monstrous creatures and dangerous animals lurking, some with bounties on their heads, requiring the intervention of guilds to eliminate them. P.s I asked the A. to create my book cover how cool does that look 😁
