When Earth had been invaded in an instant, the powers that be selected very few individuals who would one day defend the Earth in the far future and become the Hope of Humanity. Their plan, however, hadn't taken into account a different kind of threat, where the rest of humanity had to fight to survive on their own without these so-called "Hope of Humanity." Instead, the last of humanity created tough fighting machines known as Nikkes, who were the ones who truly became humanity's hope. Since the initial invasion, one of those Hopes has been awakened and brought into the Ark; a surviving underground civilization, where the remaining humans wait for the day they'd reclaim the surface.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. I was alone in my sanctum when I thought of it. "It didn't have to happen the way it did " I thought. Several reports , articles , interventions , letters , memos , essays etc have been written on the pandemic at hand : The Corona virus pandemic. Funny how it goes for the past few months , the static lockdown of activities due to the unheralded outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about my titling of this novella "Pestilence at Nineteen". My review on a short article written by Abdusalam Wasiu a penultimate student of Guidance and counselling , in the University of Ilorin and the Chairman of the National association of Nigerian students , Kwara state axis , says and I quote an excerpt : "...If the Federal Government should keep saying people and students should stay at home till the active case of COVID-19 is circumscribed , students may be at home for three years or beyond being static educationally. The simple truth is , COVID-19 has come to stay..." Those words to some extent were heartfelt in all ramifications, but the part which kept reoccurring in my mind was the last part "COVID-19 has come to stay". Although he spoke from a more academic dimensis and perspective , meaning wasn't lost to the world in general as we have it. A more appropriate approach for the titular which I first proffered was PESTILENCE AT NINETEEN : A Nigerian perspective ; but then , I made some emendations which I thought necessary at the time. I seeked to uncover some facet of truth which have been hidden in the Nigerian quest for survival in this pandemic. The hunger , the strife , the impoverished , the family , the elitist , idealists , the plebe- the partitioning of these groups have alot of say to this Pandemic , some heard , some unheard and it all boils down to one thing , humanity.Completa

Fight like hell
No one saw this coming, something like this happening is never planned by anyone, it was small at first, subtle warning's from the news then it hit hard within a couple hours, weeks. Pretty soon people were screaming, running from loved one's that caught a strange virus that was floating around for some reason that is still unknown a year later. Now everyone is fighting to be the last one standing as if it's a game, there are only a few people left in only a year, there's rumours about a cure going around but I know that's fake, nobody would be stupid enough to test if their immune. My memory has failed me. My past haunts me. My decisions bite back at me with ferociousness not even a tiger would be able to achieve. I don't know how much I've lost just doing it... But I know for a fact, that if I just sat there and didn't do anything, I would've lost far more. No matter how dark the tunnel I thread through gets, I know that there are people out there that I can rely on to light up the way for me. Those people are to be protected at all cost. The ones in the center of my heart, all with caring and nurturing souls. I won't let any of them falter, for I know that they were the crutches that helped me walk when I couldn't. MORITURI: Those About to Die
Man is born with two fears, and two fears only; the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Then they learn to fear each other, and rightfully so. Morituri follows a paramilitary group of survivors trying to restore order after a biological attack ravaged the US, turning man against man, and causing mass bloodshed across the world. But there's something, some one, in their midst that may be more dangerous to them than the virus itself. Throughout history, civilizations have prophesied of cataclysmic events that would wipe out the races of man. Modern movies and conspiracy theorists have for years warned of an apocalypse on the horizon, be it a war or economic collapse, or a spill of biological waste that contaminates and eradicates the populous. So engrained are we that there IS an apocalypse coming, a term has been devised for those getting ready to protect themselves and their families with any means necessary during this time. Preppers. Follow the preppers. And pray. There is something coming. Where do you fit in to the apocalypse? Are you the reason it's coming? Will it be your mistake? Or are you the one trying to save everyone else when it happens? Could you fight if you had to; could you kill? Look to Morituri. Find yourself in it. Because you're already there. We're all already there... Enter their world if you dare, but take with you your wits and any training you received in the military; you're going to need it.
