"Death isn't just one thing that happens and is over with. That description fits life more. Death is eternal. I mean that's how I view it. Death brings joy and pain. In my opinion life should be viewed as death is. The end. Death is the beginning. A new life, a fresh new start. Its beauty is unmatched. I imagine it feels like stars bursting, a million smiles and just pure happiness." Cancer. What a pain. Valerie's crippling illness leaves her hospitalised, bored out of her mind, dreaming of how she just wants to be a normal teenager. Although her thoughts are constantly intruded by someone. The boy. She was intrigued by him, he visited everyday at the same time, 2:47pm. She wanted to know his story, why was he here? Is he visiting someone? Her curiosity overflowed her. Anyways, it didn't matter, for her illness was getting better and she could finally get back to school. Sophomore year. Gosh. She could finally be a normal teenager. Then she saw "him" in the school hallways. The boy. Although he seemed different, less warm, more cold. It was like he put up a façade and barricaded his true self. I was enduring a feeling which I determined to never let happen, I was feeling suffocated in the web of something unexplainable, I was getting lost for the beauty of heart not knowing how to take care of it. I was longing for something too fragile, gentle, delicate knowing that it can get broken by being with me. "He was my safe place without me realizing it... he was my savior even before i met him, he was the person i dreamt about without recognizing it, he was the love in a heart where there was no hope of any emotion, he became my only family making me remember the love i lost with my parents." Highest rank #1 in teen fiction I had a simple plan. Get a good GPA, escape into college and never turn back. I didn't hate anything because I knew, life has a weird tendency to offer displeasing results. A secret admirer with a few temperamental issues and a perfectly possessive boyfriend is what I never wanted. What I didn't look past was that charming aura that was masking his mysterious deeds and a huge crush he held against me, the moment he laid his eyes. To him, I was the only thing that mattered in life. To me, he was the one I was running from, all my life.

I open the drink and look at it as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. I sigh, it's a habit now, and take a gulp. "So?" You ask again. I put the drink on a table next to your bed and sit properly. "I don't know." I say honestly. You didn't seem fazed but you did seem a bit confused. "What do you mean you don't know?" I shrug and decide that the floor is the next best thing to look at. "I like you." I laugh at this and see you don't. "Don't say that. You don't like me. You don't." I say as my smile fell and I looked to your eyes, mine were filled with sadness. But enjoy the book :)
