Chris's eyes softened for a fraction of a second, just enough to make my resolve waver. "Shaniyah... please," he said, reaching out, his hand brushing against my arm. "Mi know it's a lot. Mi know it's wrong, but I can't lose you again." Something inside me snapped-not with desire, but with sheer survival instinct.
