Ryanne Ross is a young, American novelist and in her artistic impulsion, she decides to spend a year in a no name village in the south of France to work on her next book. 
    
    Although it takes her some time to get used to the nonchalant mentality of the local folk, or the smell of fish, the rapid way of speaking or for how long a "real" french baguette needs to stay in the oven, she is strangely intrigued by the atmosphere and people around her, especially the quiet woman at the hostelry who leaves cryptic notes on her napkins for breakfast coffee.
