I didn't know what he looked like, sounded or smelt like, but I was always looking forward to see him sitting in that chair watching me. At first, he made me uncomfortable, but after 13 years of seeing him, it became natural.

He started showing up after my parents death. For a while, I believed he was a guardian angel sent from heaven to watch over me, I believed everyone had an angel sent from heaven watching over them, but I was special because I felt the presence of my angel, I saw it's shape, I knew it was a male.

He's been there since I was 4, he grew up with me. When I got taller, so did he, when I aged so did he. He's like a childhood friend, but one that sits in the dark and watches you as you sleep.

Both my parents died when I was four, that's when he started appearing, at the age of 4 I was confused, at 13 I was angry, felt like he was invading my privacy, at 15 I came to accept that he wasn't there to invade my privacy, but to keep me safe and at 17, I yearned for him to come every night, seeing him sitting in the chair I laid out for him was the only way I could fall asleep, knowing that someone's watching over me.
