Xavier Gresham is a despondent college student with an increasingly morose outlook on life. Feeling especially down on his luck, he seeks out substance use as a way to distract himself from the vice-grip society has on him, but what he gets in return is far from what he had in mind. What he thinks is a harmless rave-drug turns out to be his ticket into the violent and unpredictable world of mutants. Relying on his newly acquainted and enigmatic drug dealer, Avery, as his guide, Xavier struggles to keep his overwhelming powers under control. On top of that, he finds it increasingly difficult to ignore the feelings he has for Avery as he chips away at her guarded demeanor. As the two set out on a convoluted journey to find the doctor responsible for making the substance turning humans into mutants, Xavier shows signs of being unprecedentedly powerful, which may or may not always be a good thing.
