In the streets of east Oakland, gang life seems to be everyone's fate. Ariana Vazquez refuses to make it hers and college is her way out. Respect is key in this hood, and the only way to obtain it is through dirty measures. Ariana's brother already granted her family respect when he was initiated into the Rho's, known as the hoods most violent and oppressed gang. Despite her brothers role in the gang, Ariana is still known as the smartest one on the block, the one that will make it out, and her brother will make sure she does, at all costs.
Carlos Molina may look like your ordinary member of the Rho gang, but under that infamous P hat sits the brain of a book smart guy with not so street smart decisions. Balancing his life at home, life in the streets, and life on campus, Carlos is losing sense on how to keep his worlds separated.
When Ariana and Carlos are paired up for a research project in their most important class of their degree, they realize they have more in common than they think. But catching feelings for the gang leaders little sister is definitely not street smart.
