Alyssa feels even more stupid when she finds out literally everyone in the school knows about it, except her and her frustration and heartbreak knows no bounds, until Cameron comes along. Cameron has never had a reason to like Alyssa, and the fact that she was his step brothers girlfriend didn't even cut it. So when Cameron approaches her to fake date to make his step brother realize his mistake and also see what he's missing out on, Alyssa is skeptical about the whole deal. She takes it, on one condition, no matter what happens, they're not allowed to fall for each other.
