Eight teenage kids were living happy, normal lives in a small town within the Appalachian mountains until what had been their worst nightmare occurred; a virus breakout. The virus, slowly turning living people into mindless "zombies" which infected and ate others, swept across the nation, killing their families. All alone, it was up to them to find out the cause of the virus and to find the cure. Both Aspen, a short brunette with green eyes and Rose, a short blonde with bright blue eyes two girls who had been best friends since kindergarten, lost their parents to the virus that had left most of the country dead or infected.
