Mindy was kind,intelligent and a great artist,but at the same time she was a Primitive,which meant that to the walled off worlds of the Civilized she was merely a demon worshiping,ferocious,and unfit for the industrial world,thou to the eyes of the Civilized roughly everyone from beyond their great walled of cities on the continent that by all rights should be considered a peninsula was considered a Primitive and should be treated accordingly.
