Emma was a born carer and it showed in her work. It was second nature to help people and they adored her for it. She excelled at work and loved being a nurse. She put her success down to hard work and sticking to one rule... never date a colleague.

The world was in Crisis and Emma had trained for it, but nothing prepared her for the horrors that lay ahead. The strength she would need both physically and mentally to survive each working day would test her limits and push her beyond that living nightmare into the next.

The pressures of working under such intense conditions took their toll on everyone. Emma's work life began to fall apart and at the same time she fought not to break that rule. She had no time to fall in love and no time for people who couldn't be professional.

Through it all she had her family who became the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. A tunnel which often changed and left her feeling as thought she was staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.
