Un jeune homme surdoué de 19 ans, totalement détruit intérieurement, est forcé de participer  à un concours d'entrée à la police. Mais sa vie va changer réellement lorsqu'il va comprendre que ce n'est pas à la police où il sera recruté, mais à une brigade spéciale chargée des crimes les plus complexes et ayant un rapport directe avec un enfant.
Elias sera alors chargé de l'enquête qui tourne autour de Tyara, une gamine de 15 ans qui d'après les archives, n'existe même pas.
