The only reason for mates is to produce offspring and any pairing can do that. Although you have only one "true" mate, you can and should be with other people. Mates are not the only person you should try to spend your life with. You shouldn't be forced to fall in love someone. They don't believe in a pre-determined destiny and sure as hell don't believe in not playing the field.
The Moon Goddess has seen how the werewolves treated her gift of true love. She decided that only those who truly believe in the love of mates can fully feel the mate bond. There is only one pack full of people who receive this "Blessing". Amantium pack members spend a lot of time thinking about their mates and who they might be.
