Jess was an only child until he was seven years old and Jake came into their lives. Except he was pretty decent than the others. Jess still refused to give him a chance, though the chance was lost anyway when Jake died, leaving not only Jess and his mom alone once again but now Jess had a little sister to look out for, who was just like her dad.

Jess wasn't expecting to hear the words, "Your sister is going to be moving to Connecticut with my brother, and your uncle, Luke." Nobody in any world outside of the Danes-Mariano family would ever be able to understand why on Earth Liz Danes would want to send her only daughter away, and separate her from her twin brother, but, hey!, that's just Liz Danes for you; famous for being the all-over-the-place wackjob that everyone in New York City knows her as. She'll never change... or will she? Tessa and Jess keep in contact through phone calls as often as possible, but eventually it just got impossible, since they both have their own lives to live. Although, no matter what, they always called each other to celebrate their birthdays together, over the phone. 7 years later, when Jess Mariano is 17, and starting to run with the wrong crowds, Liz can think of nothing else to do, but to simply send him to live with his uncle, as well.
