Taiyonians (a race of magic wielding aliens) have infiltrated a small town in Colorado, causing life there to become a fearful game of odds. A decade and a half after the official fall of the United States of America, regional factions have developed urban towns with a constant government presence. The emergence of 'Gifted', or magical individuals change the scope of the post republic fall. With global incentive in using these gifts, terrorist attacks, government raids, and violent policing grow in protest of the super-powered people. But there is hope. Peni Wyr, a preteen girl ushered away from dangers to magickind, and a few other magicians are sent to a stable in the rural Midwest.
