The ash covered the mountaintops, nearing killing the Tribe of cats that had called the region home for many seasons. Prey became scarce, water tainted, the skies a constant gloomy gray.
Starvation had riddled the landscape.
However, the Tribe survived. They endured for many seasons after the mysterious ash had clouded their territory. They grew stronger, more stubborn, more hardy. Only the strongest of the litters managed to claw their way to adulthood.
Seasons passed and the Tribe continued in their constant struggle for survival in their barren home. They managed even though it was just barely.
