Before Renesmee Powell earned the attention of the Duke of Berkshire she was any other maiden. Only her past experience with engagements gone terribly wrong, (having lost the love of her life to a plague overseas) her need for independence and ambition to receive recognition for her musical compositions shut out any chance of romance. Her father was a well off apothecary in town and her mother was a benevolent seamstress who only wanted what was best for her husband and three children.
