Before Renesmee Powell earned the attention of the Duke of Berkshire she was any other maiden. Only her past experience with engagements gone terribly wrong, (having lost the love of her life to a plague overseas) her need for independence and ambition to receive recognition for her musical compositions shut out any chance of romance. Her father was a well off apothecary in town and her mother was a benevolent seamstress who only wanted what was best for her husband and three children. Renesmee's older brother Huxley had found favor in the eyes of a merchant and was completing an apprenticeship overseas, hopefully returning home soon.
Giovanna, Renesmee's younger sister was the most beautiful maiden in all of Berkshire, and would soon marry Sir William Davenport of Wembleton. A Duke as influential and Wealthy as Sir Bradford, yet of kinder nature and softer heart.
The Duke was known to be cold and reserved, his own demons haunting his thoughts and soul. He was oblivious to matters of the heart, living a sheltered world which was masked with business, parties and an endless stream of maidens and Bachelors who seek the unattainable. The heart of Sir Phineas Bradford. Duke of Berkshire.
