The war is done. The resistance was disbanded. Everyone can now focus on rebuilding.
But as they always say, history repeats itself.
A single scientist has started a project during the war, and soon created a large laboratory of others who had decided to follow their footsteps.
The project was soon called, "The Infinite Stars," named after one of the most dangerous enemies the Freedom Fighters has ever faced.
But the scientists alone couldn't depend on only themselves. They needed hosts to test their experiments on recreating the ruby that had started the war.

Sonic the Hedgehog, hero of Mobius/Earth, had defeated Emerl the ultimate Gizoid that the blue blur raised as his own. After freeing Emerl from his destructive programming, Sonic hoped he didn't do too much damage so he can bring him home. Unfortunately, the damage became severe for the childlike robot. As Emerl says his final goodbye to Sonic and his friends that treated him with kindness and compassion, a light flashes, enveloping the Gizoid. And as the light dissipates, Emerl was no longer there. He was truly gone.............or so the blue hedgehog thought. Unbeknownst to Sonic and his friends, Emerl was teleported to a different world, but not without a heavy cost. With his link with Sonic separated, he loses almost all of his memories of them, their skills and abilities were erased. All except his name. As Emerl sits on the tree, powered down and lost, he would one day be discovered by a group of students, while they were doing their mission. And the leader of the team would form a 'Link' that would change the orange and yellow robot, more or less.

Everyone who had brain cells could see it. Sonic had a crush on someone. With the stares off into space where if you'd ask him what he was thinking about he'd blush and say 'oh nothing important'. The signs were clear as day. Heck even the person Sonic's in love with knew Sonic was in love. The only problem? No one knew who Sonic was in love with. METAL SONIC AND THE DIGITAL ODYSSEY (Metal Sonic X SMG4)
(Disclaimer: This story is rated 18 and up, in the use of drugs, strong language, a massive amount of violence, blood, and possible sex scenes. I do not own Sonic and any of the SMG4 characters. They belong to SEGA, SMG4 himself, Nintendo, and Glitch Productions.) =================================== During the day that Sonic was crowned as king, Eggman attacked Mobotropolis with a full on invasion to take down the Freedom Fighters. Eggman planed to use the Phantom Ruby to banish Sonic and his friends to another dimension, making sure they stay there and never return. After a long fight with Metal Sonic, as both he and Metal became super, Sonic was defeated but Eggman pulled the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic and Metal Sonic before the robot hedgehog could deliver the final blow. Eggman disowned Metal and called him useless before firing the cannon. But Metal chose to take the Chaos Emeralds when the portal became unstable and turned into a black hole. While grabbing the Ruby, Metal Sonic sacrificed himself to save the world, making everyone believe him to be gone... However, they did not know that he was sent to an alternate dimension, where he would begin his new life becoming a hero in the SMG4 universe, proving he will be a better hero than Sonic.

Drama unfolds as a new enemy emerges under the disguise of a G.U.N. mandate, bringing chaos to Mobius and utilizing the Phantom Ruby's destructive illusions. Who is N.I.T.E.? And will our heroes be able to put a stop to their villainy? Disclaimer; Minor no-no language. Additionally, this story was written soon after Spirit of the Phantom Ruby, which was written very shortly after Sonic Forces came out. "A different world. A different kind of war." Over 200 years ago, Sonic fought his final battle to end the war against Eggman. It took all of Mobius and the Sol Dimension to try and stop the crazed doctor. They failed, and the planet was forced into an ice age. With no greater evil, and many of their heroic leaders gone, the worlds isolated themselves. Two centuries of isolation and rewritten history has made each planet enter their own poor state of affairs. And on a new world: Avalon, Arno Durandal; a man born from both Mobius and Avalon, now has no choice but to fight in a world war if he hopes to survive. And unfortunately, this is a war where the line between good and evil is blurred. The time for diplomacy ended long ago. And from the ashes, new heroes will rise! -This fanfic is an alternate timeline story, taking place far in Sonic's future. Do not expect many direct references at the start. -This story is dark at points. It shows the worst of people. That is the point, as I want to tell a somber story. I try not to indulge in it though, so there's no gore or excessive cursing. If you feel uncomfortable, I do apologize.
