Jane Kaczmarek was born a mutant. While some saw her mutation as a gift, no one really knew how much of a curse it was. You see, her mutation absorbs all other mutations around her, temporarily canceling them out in an unconscious attempt to protect herself, like an extra immune system. But it comes with a price. If the inhibitor is exposed to too many mutations around it, the absorbed mutations begin piercing through this shield, killing its bearer off. 

Jane is nearly ready to accept her fate. But when a shadow from the past comes at her door, asking for help, something in her refuses to reject the call. If going back in time is what it takes to save the world, and herself in the process, she's more than willing to do it. 

It's only a matter of time before one or the other kills her.

(x-men au, takes place around 1983)
