Default Genetics
Six teenagers. Genetically engineered. Organically weaponized. Publicly declared heroes, and privately ticking time bombs. The walking-talking equivalent of a biohazard weapon. The kind that reeks of sweat and streetlights and the unindominatable human spirit. The kind they wished they knew how to break. You see, they weren't born. Because life isn't as easy as crawling out of a womb anymore, with blood and serum and the warm exhale of a mother's love. No, it was far 'easier' than that. They were built - piece by piece, chemical after chemical, atom to atom - where scientists preferred fighting on which new type of atomic ray to experiment with next rather than the freaking Geneva Convention. Because, inside Helix Labs, lay the wasteland of glass and live wires and the unmistakable smell of a brand new, bioweapon. Was that a newborn cursed with a modified brain, heart, or muscle? Or did they prefer kidney, lungs or bone? No. Why? Because they weren't born...they were crafted, congealed, and set on a path of righteous fury. They were never given a choice, only the cold looming shadow of a power far greater than them when they decided to condemn the evolutionary design and man handled into existence their own path of 'heroism'. Now, these walking anomalies patrol the glass and grime skyline of Haem city, a place where chrome and corruption reek havoc side by side. Where sin and silicon are separated by a gap of letters and not materialistic gain. The mutagens call themselves saviours, the Authority calls them property and the villains refer to them as misguided. They were made to serve humanity, when they were never humans themselves. Welcome to the future, it's much colder than you think.
Revolution (Book 3 of POE Chronicles)
(This is book 3 of the P.O.E. Chronicles, Read book 1 Evolution and book 2 Selection if you haven't already) I never wanted a war. All I wanted to do was to get things back to the way they were and to keep those I love safe. But it turns out that everything was just an illusion, that the reality I lived in was all but a lie. That world was no place to live, and in order to make a better future, a future that so many have sacrificed so much to try and archive before me, I had to fight. And to do that I needed to find out the truth, no matter what horrors lie beneath it. The web of lies, of secrecy, of betrayal, is spun so far, so fine, so wide that I had been seeing only a corner of it. I didn't know if I have the strength to go on, but I know that if I don't step up, the world as we have known it will end. If you asked her four years ago what she imagined herself doing in the future, Abigail Beckett could safely tell you that it doesn't involve political meetings, living in an ancient castle and seeking advice from a three hundred years old Original. Having discovered her roots, she had inherited the responsibility to make sure the world doesn't end by the terrorist group Apocalypse and make peace among POE and Legres. With the fate of many of her friends still uncertain, she must race against time to uncover the Apocalypse's plan, pacify the government, and tried not to get killed by her grandmother. *THE UNEDITED VERSION* Beware of typos, errors, and general mistakes. This is a very, very rough draft. "I live in a place called Compound 4. We are one of ten different compounds placed at strategic locations around the US. It's been thirteen years since the virus overtook humanity, turning about ninety percent of us into zombies. I'm not sure how it started exactly; that's classified information. I do know that in order to save what was left of the human race, the president at the time took a bunch of really smart people and kids and relocated them into new 'protected' cities. My father was one of those really smart people. I was only five at the time, but I knew what was happening." Within the walls of the compound, Jay makes stupid mistakes, mistakes even she doesn't understand, putting everyone inside at risk. All because she can't shoot someone. All because she misses the wind in her hair, the flowers on the hillsides, the sound of crickets at night. All because she's different, the only person untouchable by the Virus. When the mistakes begin to duplicate, and a girl shows up who knows her name, everything begins to change in Compound 4. Highest rank in Science Fiction: #9Complete
Mutation
It was just a normal day for Hazel Roberts and Leo Esteban. They thought they would go to school, take a huge history test that neither of them were prepared for, then go home and text each other for the rest of the afternoon. Typical teenager's day, right? They should have died from the impact, but something caused them to survive. The reaction of the explosion caused the two of them to develop powerful mutations that give them amazing abilities. Soon those abilities are put to the test when they have to fight for their lives. There are more mutants, like Hazel and Leo, around the world who are considered illegal in the cruel new society of humans who hate people who aren't normal. Every mutant in the world has to rebel against the "Normals" and make things right in the world. Hazel and Leo are two teenagers who will do anything to make things right again, and yearn for that "typical teenager day" again.Complete
