"Why don't you just kill me?" Ella shivered. She dropped her shoulders looking to him with anxious patience for his answer to her eager question. He shook his head, bringing himself to his feet.

"I'm not going to kill you, Miss Rosewood."

Those were the only words he left her with. No explanation. Not even hinted emotion to help her answer the question for herself. He turned around and walked around his chair leaving Ella to shiver alone in the darkroom.

"Oh, and by the way," Declan stopped at the door peering over his shoulder. "Welcome to the mafia."
