There is no room for fear or panic among the last of the mutants as the Sentinel armies advance. In a brave last stand, Kitty Pryde, Bobby Drake, Bishop, Warpath, Blink, Sunspot and Colossus meet with Charles Xavier, Erik Lehnsherr, Ororo Munroe and Wolverine. They come up with a plan: brave and foolish at the same time. The solution: send Wolverine back in time, to the year 1973, in order to gather the past versions of Erik Lehnsherr, Charles Xavier and Adelaide Lehnsherr-Xavier in order to stop Raven Darkholme (Mystique) from killing scientist Bolivar Trask and creating the Sentinel program.
Westchester. 1973.
Adelaide Lehnsherr-Xavier is, by all definitions, traumatised. The years have been difficult for her as she struggles to regain her focus and raise her daughter, Charlene. Her husband, Charles, begins to distance himself from her, turning to alcohol and a special serum that gives him the ability to walk. Fighting to keep her marriage together by strings, raise her daughter and hold herself together at the same time is taking a toll on her. So when her longtime friend and member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Mystique, gives her a tip to join her on a mission to kill Bolivar Trask, she accepts. Just as she is about to walk out on her once-happy life, the adventure begins...

Erik Lehnsherr had rescued Ashton at a very young age, as she had already been through more than most adults in their whole lives. Ashton was gifted with powers, so was Erik and with the help of Charles Xavier's school for gifted youngsters she was able to control and understand her powers without being judged. Erik becomes an English professor at the school and when Ashton goes off the rails after a tragic death, Erik finally confesses his longing feelings for her.
