The year is 2228.
The Sistema Government is the sole galactic authority in the Milky Way, expanding its reach across the parsecs. After coming into power at the end of the brutal Intervention War that pitted the United Nations Galactic Union against the Mageyan Empire, the Sistema used its newfound power to impose its own idea of peace and order in the galaxy.
That was over a galactic century ago.
The Galactic Elections of 2222 were a turning point. Unfair prejudices and active disinformation campaigns pushed longtime League Senator Nellie Strelizia out of office. She was ousted by her former ally, Deputy Senator Berinon Bord, now the Sistema Galactic President.
In 2224, a secessionist movement was born calling itself The Separatist Core. Twenty interstellar systems rejected the existing Autonomous System Act that was supposed to give some slight level of independence to different worlds, calling it an unfair and oppressive law especially towards poorer systems that could not handle the massive tax payments required in the process of achieving autonomy. Led by their new Chief Executive Minister, Nellie Strelizia herself, along with a mysterious but influential leader known as Supreme Commander Len Circa, the Separatist Core prepared for an inevitable conflict.
In 2228, the Quelling led to the inevitable. As the Sistema Peacekeeper Corps quelled escalating protests in several stellar systems, the Core launched an offensive to defend the people, leading to a domino effect. Now, the technologically superior Sistema Government has launched a massive incursion through the galaxy against Corish worlds with the desire to end the unrest once and for all.
Throughout this, the fate of the galaxy would be changed by the actions of three people.

What a Wonderful World is a near sci-fi political drama set in the 2040s. America trudged through the 20s and 30s as a shattered nation. A broken economy, a divided population, and incompetent leadership stood to accelerate the inevitable collapse of the United States. But from the woodwork come claimants to the title of president. Three men make the ultimate gambit: Jimmy Glen leads the loyalist US government in New England, intending to reclaim the country, Joseph Markin holds the throne in the south, declaring the New Confederate States with his intention to preserve it, and finally John Carlson a Fascist populist who will stop at nothing to reform the broken nation into a form more to his liking. Explore this world through a large, diverse cast of characters experiencing the conflict from all walks of life. Like a spider web, their stories may seem disconnected at first, but in life, our actions are rarely disconnected from each other. As our cast will come to find out, there are connections we cannot see. Perhaps this civil war is less organic than it seems. Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. Now then. You're probably wondering what this place is? To answer that, we must go to the past. 4.5 billion years in the future from our current time, Earth's sun began to expand from burning up all its fuel. Humanity, having managed to get their act together and advance space travel, avoided their extinction and evacuated the planet, feeling their solar system out unto the stars. Many years passed by in stasis and in future generations. Eventually, humanity found themselves a new home. But alas, nothing worth having is easy to keep. Extradimensional entities known as Developers, named as such due to them being the closest biological thing you could get to a genuine god, appeared in humanity's new home. With their metaphysical, reality warping abilities, they changed the world over. Combining the new planet with 3 others in such a manner that multiple dimensions and timeliness were rolled into one like a bunch of star bursts that were pressed and twisted together before being shaped into a ball. Thus, it resulted in the reality bending world named Asteria! Strap in ladies and gentlemen, this is gonna get crazy. (Author's note: There are many references to other, more familiar games, movies, books, and others. This includes character names and back stories, weapons, character abilities, and even in universe power system mechanics that resemble or are inspired by other media. Every single one of these references, allusions, and inspired aspects reserve any and all rights to the original owners. The only things that I own here are the general lore of the world.) (I will also say this is a narrative story adapted from a TTRPG campaign that I am currently running with a system I made. Players may come and go as they please, which will result in characters disappearing from the rest of the story.
