Requiem

At only sixteen, Signe is sacrificed as per the religions of her village and sent out to sea to appease and become the wife of the Sea God in return for plentiful harvests and calm seas, something she never agreed to. Only, the Sea God is also known as the Death God to the village, due to the fact that the sea takes many lives each year.
A unexpected storm suddenly brews and Signe's boat capsizes; she expects to meet her end. But when she wakes, she’s in a land where the fish float around like birds and anemones take the place of flowers. Upon meeting the Sea God, she tells him that she’s upset with the lax way she lived her life before she was sacrificed and she laments over how she can’t make amends, the Sea God gives her week in which she's supposed to wrap up her life neatly. Afterwards, she's supposed to return to the sea and live as his wife. But Signe doesn't intend to return and it's never simple, making a contract with a God.
