When he was as Quirkless, no one batted an eye. In fact, some people seemed to want to enforce just how little they care about someone without a quirk.

Some more than others. Doing and saying horrible things. Giving the worst advice.

And Izuku Midoriya almost believed them.

Until the attack on his own home.. his own mother.. his power.

The power a dark and powerful force had been searching decades for.

Now, he must learn to use his power, alongside his new and growing family, to take on the forces of evil, to defend what is rightfully his, forge unbreakable bonds, and take the first step to changing the world.

A/N - I'll be occasionally going back through the first couple of chapters and revising them, fixing errors in spelling and plot holes. So maybe one read through isn't enough? >:P

I do not own these characters. My Hero Academia belongs to the legendary Kohei Horikoshi.

In a world where 80% of the population has developed unique mutations in their genetic codes, giving them "superpowers", or "quirks", as they call it, it doesn't take long for fantasy and imagination to emerge out of the earth. And further, it doesn't take long for roles of "Heroes" and "Villains" to rise up as well. But... Who coins one as a "hero" or a "villain"...? The person themselves...? Or the people around them...? Light... Dark... Dusk... Dawn... Two sides of the same coin... Twilight... --- Kageyama Kazuma is a 16 year old boy, aspiring to follow his late father's footsteps, and become a hero who saves people. But... Not all can go as planned, or wished, right? So was the case for Kazuma as well, as his quirk soon found itself being held accountable for Kazuma being coined the word "villain" by those around him, before he could even begin his journey to becoming a hero. His only light in this darkness being his mother, is willing to do whatever it takes to keep that smile she treasures so much to never leave the boy's face. But... Being a human at the end of the day, she can only do so much. Follow Kageyama through his journey to becoming one of the greatest heroes in the entirety of Japan. What awaits him on this journey? Friends? Love? Hardships? That's for you to find out. [This is a rework of my first book ever, "What It Means To Be A Hero"] --- I do not own any claims/rights to the My Hero Academia verse, all rights go to Kosei Horikoshi. I only own the original characters I've added to the story, and the arts I add in the book. In case the art doesn't belong to me, I'll credit the said person in the comments. Peace.
