I slowly pass the nurse, as she stares intently, a worried look plastered across her face. I cast my eyes to his aunt, sat in the corner of the room. She hugs her knees to her chest, squeezing tightly, and her eyes are glossy, like she had recently been crying. Her gaze doesn't part from ashton as i sit down quietly on the seat beside his hospital bed. I stare at him, unable to process what has happened.
"Ashton?" I whisper, gently squeezing his hand. His eyes open slowly, sunken into his skull. The fresh cuts on his forehead send shivers down my spine.
He looks at me in the eyes for a moment, before his pupils focus on my face.
"I came as soon as i could, its just-" i say, my throat closing up, as i choke back tears.
"They wouldn't let me in" my voice is like a breathy whisper, whining like i was about to break out into crying.
He stares at me, eyebrows furrowing.
"I don't mean to be rude..." The words barely escape his chapped lips.
"But,who are you?"
