A story about superheroes in a modern world. Once, humans and power wielders were at war. The war brought both side to the brink of destruction, forcing peace or extinction. A tentative peace prevailed for a time. Enough to build trust between the two sides for many years. But as the two sides grew together some of the old hatreds began to stir again. Those who held these old hatreds became known as villains, while those who fought them became known as heroes. "Are you sure this will work?" one of the figures around the table ask. All are dressed in black and hide their faces. No one wants to be known to anyone else in 'this' type of alliance. "I'm certain of it. We need to simply kill the few true heroes left, and then expose the rest for the self righteous corrupt creatures they are. I've already started gathering the pieces I need." "What's the end goal here?" a third figure asks. "To purge the world of corruption and all those who turn a blind eye to it." There is a long silence before a fourth voice speaks out. Gimli said cockily "And if we fail,what then ? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his ?" Boromir questioned looking towards Gimli as he leaps to his feet "I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli says looking towards me spitefully. "How dare you speak to me in such a manor dwarf!" I said rage in my voice as the council erupted into a storm of arguments. "Never trust an Elf!" Gimli said towards me as I reach for my arrow but a hand grabs my wrist and I feel warm breath on my ear "I wouldn't" Legolas' voice says against my skin as I look at him our faces inches apart. AND THE RISE OF THE ETERNAL PALADIN Ulfgar, paladin, dwarf. Ulfgar has been a background character in a number of my stories, and this, the longest of my works, is his tale. He is the most important character in the world of the Four Realms, he is the author's alter ego, and is the perfect guide to explain everything that's likely confused you so far. Content: Ulfgar swears a lot, he is a bit on the thick side to begin with although that does improve over the years, he has no compunction whatsoever in killing evil folk, he's rather prudish about sex and although he is gay, (or to use the language of the Four Realms, Masculine Attracted) he is, at least to begin with, embarrassed about his preferences of attraction and flatly refuses to turn his journal into "A sordid page turner", to use his own words. The story does include violence and Ulfgar dealing with some pretty gruesome people. I do not think I've been overly graphic about anything, so I'm not marking this story as mature, but if anyone thinks otherwise please tell me.
