When a child Valerie saves a boy from drowning. They instantly become friends but it ended quickly when their parents met. Him being a vampire and her being a mermaid , the friendship just won't work. Merfolk and vampire's are forbidden to be together even if it's to be friends.
Years later Valerie is sent out to find her mate. Instead of searching in the sea like she's suppose to , she heads onto land. Something is calling her to it. But she's not sure what. When going to a party with a couple other mystical creatures she gets the shock of her life.
