The Keeper And The Spy

Every morning I watch her walk to school, every class, I watch her from afar, every day, I watch her.

I do this as it's my assignment, my father tells me I must, and I can't be seen. If I am seen, I will be killed, and my family slaughtered.

I see him staring at me every day, I just hope he doesn't know, if he knew, I'd die, my whole species would die.

I painfully tuck in my wings, I pull my hood up further, and blink uncomfortably in my contacts. I hide myself from everyone so that I can keep them safe, that's why I live.

Theodor is a hunter, his whole family is, he doesn't want to hunt though, he loves the creatures he must kill, and he hates himself for it.

Ashlin is the protector of her species, without her, they'd be dead, but this was never the life she wanted to live, she just wants fly free.

They're always with each other, but they always keep to themselves, one night that will all change, and their families, and even a full species, will be put in grave danger.
