The sound of door creaking could be heard through the silence. I saw footsteps coming into my view and a hand reaching to open the closet door.
Just then my brother came out of his hiding place and took a scissors lying on the table and stabbed the man in his thigh.
The man groaned in pain, "You bastard...". The other man who came in shot my brother. I tightened the hand on my mouth so that no sound escapes. The man who shot my brother went near him and said , "He's dead."
"No problem, we had to make sure there were no witnesses.", Said the man while holding his bleeding leg.
"But it was not a fatal shot, how could he die?"
"who cares, as long as the job's done. Come on we have gotta get outta here."
I heard their footsteps fading away and then the front door closing. I came out of the closet and crawled towards my brother and shook him.
"Foxy... pls wake up" I kept shaking him but there was no response. Suddenly a cold liquid touched my feet, I touched it and my hand started to become red.

I was just laying down on my bed, cuddled up with a book, when I heard a faint creak on the stairs. The sound was muffled seeing as the door was shut, but I heard it nevertheless. My eyes wandered to the door and I tried to be as silent as possible in my attempt to locate another sound. My body was tense, but relaxed when I didn't hear another noise. It's probably just my imagination, I thought. My paranoia was probably just getting the best of me since I was home alone. I heard the stairs creak again however and I heard... Footsteps. I put my book down slowly and got off my bed as quietly as I could. Yes, those were definitely footsteps. I opened my door slowly, trying to be as silent as possible.
