Keefe Beatty is beautiful, but odd. With only his senior year to get through before he can finally escape his tiny conservative town, he decides to keep his head down and not expect much. But then circumstances out of his control find Keefe at the mercy of fallen TV starlet Andréa Donovan - as spoiled and beastly as ever - and what begins as a rocky arrangement soon blooms into a friendship both loner teens never knew they needed.
To escape the hell that is high school in a small town, not to mention their own personal demons, they lose themselves to creating Fairy Tale Moments: bits of whimsy to break up the magic-less monotony of real life. From stripper heels to rubber rats to their own version of a frog prince, Keefe and Andie stretch their imaginations to the limit. And what was supposed to be a dumb game to merely to entertain themselves becomes the very thing that makes them grow closer and closer.
But life isn't a fairy tale, there's always something - or someone - out to ruin happy people's good time. And only by sticking together will they conquer their dragon and be able to live happily ever after.
