"We believe that when you die the first thing you hear is Nuali's song. And it is by this song that the Goddess of Night will lead you from this earth to the resting place, but only if you sing with her." Alva whispers.
"That doesn't seem fair, what if you don't know the words?" Ordell replies.
"There is a lot in this world that is unfair, Princeling... more than you can understand."
                            ___________

For millennia, the Noccaweĭ people have lived peacefully on the outskirts of society, misunderstood but for the most part, tolerated. It was not until The Great War ended near one hundred years ago, that misunderstanding became fear, and tolerance became hatred.
As the nomadic tribe face total annihilation by the powers that be, Alva and her brother Ardaen cannot stand by as their family and way of life is destroyed.
Prince Ordell knows how to hide... he's done so for years...deep within the stacks of the royal library, his loyal guard and closest friend Callen by his side. While the rest of the world lives in the present, the prince collects knowledge long forgotten and suppressed.
In this new world of hate and destruction, those who lead on either side have forgotten what created such bitterness and refuse their children their right to history. So the young must seek the dead for answers removed from time and mind.

For the dead sing true.

"The fuck you are leaving me." He snapped and growled at his mate. She was calm as she was ever be regardless of his snapping. She sighed and turned around to leave without saying something to him because it was worthless. There was no point in talking and especially to him. He grabbed her arm before she put one step. "Where do you think you are going Ara?" He growled so loudly as everyone shuddered watching their interaction. She quickly remove his hand as anger rolling off of her in waves. "Don't. Touch. Me. So you think I will live here and watch you mate and breed that female." She snapped at him. "She meant nothing Ara." He said after a minute. She laughed, literally laughed but without any humor. "That's why you were fucking her in your office just a minutes before, don't you?" "It was a mistake." He tried to reason with her. "But in your case mistakes happened in more than one time. And they said mistakes happened only one time." She said sarcastically. "I don't need her. I need you." He said again desperately. "Lies. All lies coming from your mouth. I feel disgusted just by looking at you, let alone talking to you. And you said you need me? Ha. Very funny. You don't need me and I sure as hell don't need you. This female behind your back is more enough than me. Breed her, mark her or fuck her. I DON'T FUCKING CARE." "I am sorry. I am really fucking sorry." He said brokenly as kneeling on the ground. A small laugh escaped from her lips. "Isn't it too late for that mate?" And she left just like that while single tear rolled down her cheeks. He had made mistakes. Mistakes that will cost him everything. He knew he had lost her and this time completely. She was broken. Again. He did break her, repair her just to break her again leaving a broken shattered woman but strong willed. ---------------------------------------------------- The cruel, sadistic Rogue Alpha and his caring, lovable Witch mate. Cerys Woodstock, travelling outside of Tainland for the first time in her life, craves adventure and excitement. Tainish Legate Eupheme hosts elaborate parties as a guise to obtain valuable information about the agendas of other lands, to further her own political interests. Yarazhenya, a half Cassioni, half Petrovian candle maker with a penchance for day drinking, is thrilled when her niece arrives to learn about her business in Chevelles. Callira Evarrlie, Tainish spiritualist, linguist, and a close friend of the chancellor of Chevelles, wants to share her knowledge of language and culture with the world. Nobody knows what Witwatersrander Floren Cheshiring does or why he is in Cassion. These are some of the civilian foreigners in the small city of Chevelles, there to teach, to sell, to build, to travel or for other reasons. But their presence raises suspicions among native Cassioni, wary of their intentions and technology. And, as xenophobia increases, so too do acts of violence. Enter Wynemere Brackenridge, fresh from the green countryside of Elsa, new recruit in the marine protectorate forces, a pawn in the fight for Tainish expansion, who wonders if she'll be able to handle the challenges her new life is bringing her. And Gwinael Snowberry, whose her first posting as combattant involves long treks over the Cassioni mountains, skirmishes with angry locals, and attempts to reign in her daydreaming so she can follow orders. Will a mutual understanding across cultures be achieved or will tragedy befall natives and foreigners alike? It is the land of Cassion itself which has the answer, as well as it's own lessons to teach them all. After all, as the Cassioni saying goes: "We have much to learn." (Dear potential reader: This is a medievalesque military low fantasy, with little to no supernatural elements: would love to get some feedback :))

TW: this book may contain mentions of violence and of suicide. DISCLAIMER #1: I wrote this story when I was a teen and while some mental disorders are the focal point, they may not be accurate representations as I was far from being a psychologist. There are several things Lynn doesn't quite get about the world she lives in, which makes it harder for her to figure herself out. She is not your average teenager. She's young, intelligent, though something about her is off by now. Everyone is quick to misjudge and point fingers, everything and everyone is so corrupted that she's afraid she'll lose herself among a bunch of wandering, empty souls. Therapy can only help so much, depression is hard to die, and in Lynn's case it's caused solely by the fact she doesn't 'fit in'. She can't really find her place in the world. But there's something really special about her; Her dreams are haunted by a wonderful, mystical place. No one understands her, they think she's off her rocker, that she needs to cut her childish daydreams. But Lynn knows deep in her heart that place really exists, and she'll do anything to find it, with the help of some new found friends. There's only one thing she must do: Keep an open mind, it brings open hearts and open eyes. -- DISCLAIMER #2 This fanfiction is inspired to Mind Over Matter by Pvris and their lyrics in general. All you read here is fiction. every reference to real events or people is purely coincidental. I do not own the songs featured in the book. Credit to Pvris for the titles of the chapters. 2015 © Run-Dont-Walk

*COMPLETED* My head bowed in a heavy mannor, not in respect, but in trepidation. I discern his unwavering gaze over my ill silhouette. "Look at me." I opened my eyes, though it made no difference. Black is still black, all I am left with are my four senses. He will kill me if I don't look. He will kill me if I do. He will look into my sightless eyes and see my futile existence isn't worth living. He will kill me, and he will be doing the pack a justice by it. He growls a low, throaty snarl to warn me about disobeying an alpha. There will be consequences, we both know that. His lingering growls let me know he is not going to allow me to contravene his word. I steadily inch my head upwards, visibly shaking everywhere else. Maybe he won't notice my depthless eyes from across the gazebo. My life depends on it. "You're blind." ~ Monet was born into a particularly prestigious area of her wolf pack, to parents of extremely high standards. Her legacy is to become the packs next healer, but when she was born completely devoid of melanin, all her mated parents saw was a disappointment. Being born an albino wolf pup meant a lot for Monet, but it mostly meant her condition had taken her eyesight along with it. What happens when Monet meets the Alpha of a neighboring pack? Will he accept her for what she is? ~CONTENT WARNING~ This book contains depictions of physical abuse, foul language, and upsetting scenary. This book is in no way, shape, or form glorifying domestic abuse of a parent or partner. This book is intended for individuals who feel at odds with their self due to their uniqueness. It is meant to shine light on those who differ from the majority; conquering, and overcoming those who lessen them for what makes them special. ~ Word count at completion date: 33,915 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
