High school is a phase of life most of us don't want to return to. For Emma, it's more than just a phase. It's a memory that tarnished everything good she had. For nine years she pushed away everything that happened into the back of her mind.
Emma Naomi Colbert, in most people's minds, paints a picture of a fierce, cold, determined, and hard-working young CEO. With a company's reigns recently being handed down to her, she knows exactly how her future will play out, and nothing is going to deter the path that she's on. Intent on her company's growth, she doesn't even have thoughts about love. But what happens when life doesn't share similar thoughts?
George Matt Mcklinn Colfax defines Greek gods, arrogance, imperturbability, and oozes confidence like it's a second skin. However, no one has ever heard about him. Despite being the CFO of one of the most famous stock trading companies, not to mention, Emma's rival company, he hasn't made an appearance in the media and has stayed out of the limelight. So when he pops up in front of Emma after nine years, feeling flabbergasted would be putting it mildly.
In the present world, things have changed. There are companies to be run, profit to be made and checks to give out. It's not shy glances in the corridor, bitchy cheerleaders, or built quarterbacks anymore. In the world of finance, suits and skirts hide the pain that scars the heart.
CAUTION: You may tend to feel frustrated. The need to punch a wall (or George's fictitiously sexy face) may arise often but for your safety, it's best if you don't.
(Before You Leave #1)
She was sent to boarding school over the smallest of mistakes...
Okay, burning down your schools gym might have been a big one. But she didn't mean to do it. This time. And she's certainly no snitch.
She's had a fine life. But she wanted something more. And so she created chaos.
She was misjudged and misunderstood.
And now she's the havoc of Birchwood Prep. They call her the devil's bitch, the principal's worst nightmare, and a screwed up whore.
They can think what they want, JJ Ashton has heard these all throughout high school. She doesn't want a future, she just wants to take control of now. She's everything Birchwood Prep doesn't want, but is deemed to get after her Father decided it was the only option for her to find some discipline.
She's not going to make it that easy for them.
Gideon Andrews is the perfect student. Good grades, never missed a day, and never had been in trouble of any sort. He thinks life is great, but meeting JJ, she thinks life for him could be better. Less plain and vanilla.
He hates her guts. It's mutual for her as well.
But the headmaster has made it Gideon's personal mission to get her back on track and into a better life. She's allowed two screw ups, has to join a sports team, pass all of her classes with at least a C and get some friends before the year is over, or she will be held back.
And she's not about to go another year in the hellhole called high school.
