The sound of sirens fills my aching ears, my shallow breaths enter the freezing air. Yet I know those sirens aren't for me, but for someone else. Someone who actually needs it. 

I open my tired eyes to see the cold rain fall in front of me. My bones shiver inside of me and I try to cover my pale bare skin, atlas I cannot and I lay there freezing. I Imagine about how I could've had a good life, a life where I was in a happy family. But I know it's only dreams, and that it can't be reality for a seventeen year old like me. 

Ashley Millwell never thinks of herself as an orphan, more like a lost child. But when she meets Jim Winter her life turns around like she never expected.
